The $400m Ballarat Line Upgrade is being delivered by Rail Projects Victoria (RPV), on behalf of the Victorian Government. MBB represented the construction contractor, made up of a consortium including Lendlease, Coleman Rail and SMEC, in partnership with RPV and V/Line.
Works include the duplication of 18kms of track between Deer Park and Melton, a new station at Cobblebank, the rebuild of Rockbank station, upgrade of Bacchus Marsh station including pedestrian overpass and car park construction, major upgrades at Ballan and Wendouree Stations, including new platforms, pedestrian overpasses, track duplications, passing loops and one of the biggest and most complex signalling upgrades and integration ever in Victoria.
MBB’s primary focus was to oversee both the construction and commercial management of project, which included both the civil, rail and building aspects of the project. MBB’s engagement was to manage large portions of scope through to completion, which included procurement, planning, financial management and reporting, contract administration, risk management and daily site management of the complex and critical program
