Ballarat Line Upgrade

Project Overview

In 2021, the Ballarat Line Upgrade was delivered by Rail Projects Victoria. We represented the construction contractor, a syndicate including Lendlease, Coleman Rail and SMEC, in partnership with RPV and V/Line. This project included one of the biggest and most complex signaling upgrades and integrations ever seen in Victoria, along with new station builds and several station upgrades and rebuilds involving new platforms, pedestrian overpasses, carparks, track duplications and passing loops.

Project Scope

Our key responsibilities included overseeing both construction and commercial management of the project and delivery of the new Wendouree Station, including the civil, rail and building aspects. One of our key responsibilities involved communicating and coordinating between the station construction team and the separate track and signaling teams, as there were overlaps in scope and programme. Our focus on deep collaboration helped us exceed all expectations in this department.  Beyond this, we managed large elements of scope through to completion, including:

• OHS&E and quality compliance
• Technical support to financial management and reporting
