Making a Difference on the Westgate Bridge: A Milestone for MBB Consulting and the Department of Transport and Planning.

At MBB Consulting, we're thrilled to announce our recent contribution to the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the iconic West Gate Bridge, in close collaboration with the Department of Transport and Planning.

Our team managed the critical task of replacing 848 meters of asphalt and waterproof membrane on lane 2E of the Westgate Bridge.
Works included:
·      Profiling the existing asphalt
·      Employing hydro blasting and abrasion blasting techniques to prepare the existing membrane.
·      Conducting QA inspections of the steel deck
·      Applying a new waterproofing membrane layer to safeguard the bridge against the elements.
·      Asphalt resurfacing, enhancing the overall ride quality for all road users.

Our team delivered both Engineering planning and Project Management services, culminating in an intense series of night works over the Christmas break to complete the job.
This project not only provides corrosion protection for the steel deck, greatly prolonging the longevity of the West Gate Bridge but also significantly improves the ride quality for road users with a new wearing course over lane 2E.
