Introducing Senior Project Engineer Brett Kortum

Brett is a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer with a wealth of experience across Australia in complex utilities infrastructure projects and general civil construction.

He is well-versed in utilities culture process, and the expectations surrounding the protection and relocation of water, sewer, gas, and electrical assets. His project experience includes large road projects, rail infrastructure, including complex grade separations, tunnelling, pipelines, and Managing Contractor early works utility engagements.

In early 2021, Brett was engaged as a Utilities Construction Advisor to assist Rail Projects Victoria with the initial planning and development phase of the Melbourne Airport Rail Project, a transformational public transport project connecting Melbourne Airport to Victoria’s regional and metropolitan train network for the first time.

Brett played a significant role in the development of the MAR reference design, as well as undertake scoping, costing, programming, risk mitigation and obtaining any necessary approvals to support Early Works Utility relocation and protection works for the project.

Most recently Brett has been deployed to MRPVs Westernport Highway project, where he is managing a significant portion of both civil and utilities scope. Brett has an authentic approach to solving the complex challenges that infrastructure projects present.
