Introducing Project Manager Darren Vella

Darren is a tertiary qualified Engineer and Project Manager with deep expertise on road, building, and land development projects throughout Victoria. He has extensive project delivery experience, which he supplements with a natural ability to lead teams to success on difficult projects.

When it comes to delivering projects on time and on budget, he has a proven track record of success.

His approachable demeanour and genuine approach to project management ensure that all of his engagements are a success.

Darren joined MBB in 2019 to assist with the Australian F1 Grand Prix setup. Darren supervised civil and track operations such as barrier installation and removal, media buildings, gravel traps and track readiness, as well as grounds maintenance and Albert Park presentation as well as the Traffic Management Contract — Managing both pre and after event traffic management (Site wide)

As part of MBB’s engagement as Independent Project Manager (IPM) for Cladding Safety Victoria’s program for the removal and replacement of combustible cladding to high risk buildings, Darren was engaged and handled procurement and award process for 15 separate building design and construct (D&C) contracts, as well as the rectification of flammable cladding for 15 buildings from 2020 to 2021.

More recently in 2021, Darren also recently worked as a Project Engineer at Edithvale,  upon the Southern Program Alliance Removal of a level crossing “Rail Under” Project under full occupancy conditions – bulk earthworks, civils, drainage, tanking slab culverts and pavements, and as a Project Manager working with BMD on the Expression of Interest bid document, construction methodology, and delivery strategy.

Interests & Hobbies
Darren has spent the last few years, when time allows, restoring a classic 1968 Holden v8 ute. Hopefully he can get it on the road soon!

What are you looking forward to most in 2022
I’m looking forward to some weekend trips away to regional Vic with the family this year after all the lockdowns
